Masters of Anarchy is an online strategy game and this website (mastersofanarchy.ca). In this policy, “we” means the people who run the game, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This page explains what information we keep about you, why, who can see it, and how to get it deleted. Questions: support@mastersofanarchy.ca.

What we collect

Your account: your username, your email address, and your password. The password is stored scrambled, so we cannot read it. We also keep when you created the account, your language, and when you log in.

Your game: your nation, land, advances, resources, credits, quests, settings, friends and patron links, and the in-game messages you send.

Chat: public chat, nation chat and private (whisper) messages are recorded on our servers so we can deal with abuse and cheating. Administrators can read them. Please do not share anything private in chat.

The forum: the threads and replies you post, with your username and the time.

Approximate location: while you are online, a rough location (country, region, city) is worked out from your internet address and shown to our administrators so they can see who is online. We do not keep a history of it.

Technical logs: our web server records internet addresses and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for about two weeks. Our game server also keeps error and activity logs.

Purchases: in-game purchases are not available yet. When they are, payments will be handled by the store or payment provider. We will never see or store your card number, only a record of what was bought.

Cookies: the website uses a single cookie that keeps you logged in to the forum. We use no tracking or advertising cookies.

How we use it

To run the game and your account; to send you emails about your account (your starting password, password resets and password changes); to keep the game fair and safe; to fix bugs; and to show rankings. We do not sell your information.

What other people can see: your username, your nation, the rankings and prize history, your forum posts, and the chat you send.

Who we share it with

Only the services that help us run the game: a cloud hosting provider (Linode, part of Akamai) for our servers; Brevo, which sends the game's account emails; and Zoho, which hosts our support mailbox. If we distribute the game through an app store, that store also receives what it needs to deliver the game. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

The game currently contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking services. If we add them, for example rewarded video ads, we will update this policy first and name the provider.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and game data for as long as your account exists. Chat and private-message records are kept for moderation and safety, and are deleted automatically after 12 months. Our nightly database backups are kept for 7 days. When you ask us to delete your account (below), it is removed from the live game right away, and from backups as they expire.

Deleting your account and your rights

To have your account and personal information deleted, email support@mastersofanarchy.ca from the address on your account (or tell us your username and we will confirm it is you by email first). We will delete it within 30 days. We remove your login, email address, password and forum posts. We may keep a limited record where we have to, such as payment records for accounting once purchases exist, and notes about accounts banned for abuse so they cannot simply come back.

Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom or California) you may also have the right to see the information we hold about you, correct it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Email us and we will help. You can also complain to your local privacy authority.

Children

The game is not for children under 13, or under the age at which your country lets you agree to online services by yourself if that is higher. If we learn that we hold information from someone under that age, we will delete it.

Security, location and changes

Connections to the website and the game are encrypted, passwords are stored scrambled, and only the people who run the game can reach the servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe. Our servers may be in a different country from you.

We will update this page when something changes and change the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced in the game.
